Pipe Factory Programming Committee

Curating

Lucas was a member of The Pipe Factory Programming Committee from 2017-2018. During this time he  co-curated a range of exhibitions, events and educational programming. During his time on the committee Lucas brought knowledge of the Barras Market that the venue was located in and aimed to programme events that were about or socially engaged with the local community, while also taking into account the place of privilege The Pipe Factory and the artists occupied in relation to the working class area.

The highlight of his time on the programming committee was CHUMMING! a group exhibition as part of Glasgow International 2018, the  exhibition featured works that attempted to go beyond the typical site specific artworks and react to the culture the space inhabits. The exhibition featured works by Richie Moment, India Mackie, Adam Shield, Gabriella Boyd, Jack Burton, Anikó Kuikka, Martin Groß, Jessy Jetpacks, Jonathan Kelly, Sam Austen, Fani Parali, Sebastian Jefford and more.

Other events included a residency in the building by 3rd year Glasgow School of Art Environmental Art students, as well as solo exhibitions:  Sabe Lewellyn’s How Curious! How Real! , Dorine Aguerre’s Where What Who, Jack Bishop’s Almost There, Beagles & Ramsay’s PING PING JERK SPASM and Catalina Barroso-Luque’s eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
